On October 23, 2018, HTC launched the first blockchain mobile phone EXODUS 1. The official website no longer has stock of the phones, which may be related to the recent cryptocurrency market volatility. This phone can only be paid for Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin.
EXODUS 1 is priced at 0.15 BTC, 4.78 ETH, and 19.84 LTC respectively. At that time, the price of the bitcoin was about $6,480, and the price of the phone was about $972. However, the cryptocurrency market has repeatedly turned down after entering the month. According to CoinMarketCap data, Bitcoin has once seen a low of $3,350. The bitcoin price is currently about $3,600. In other words, EXODUS 1 is only $540, a price reduction of nearly half the original price.
According to the official website of Exodus, the website now displays “This product is out of stock” regardless of the cryptocurrency that the buyer intends to use. There is no further official notice.
HTC previously said it hopes to expand the blockchain ecosystem through EXODUS phones. Phil Chen, the company’s blockchain leader, said that EXODUS 1 is one of the basic elements of the encrypted Internet. It is believed that the mobile phone will become the main focus of digital assets and decentralized applications (Dapp) and the developers look forward to working together in the blockchain field.
