【Block Show Live】Crypto vs Traditional Economy with Alex Mashinsky and Nouriel Roubini

Block Show Americas is being held in for the first time in Las Vegas, USA for two days (August 20 to 21). It's a major international blockchain event powered by Cointelegraph that is dedicated to highlighting the hottest innovations and trends. Coinsnetwork is in attendance to bring you the latest first-hand information.

Alex Mashinsky and Nouriel Roubini took the Battle Stage at Block Show Americas today to discuss ‘The Usefulness of Crypto.’ Mashinsky, Founder of Celsius Network, a P2P decentralized borrowing & lending platform, advocated for the benefit of crypto, while Roubini, Professor of economics at New York University’s Stern School of Business, often known for predicting the global financial crisis of 2008, sided for the traditional economy.

This was a follow up to what is being called “The Crypto Brawl” that took place during the Milken Institute Global Conference back in May. Since this debate took place right after Roubini’s presentation, Mashinsky opened with a rebuttal from Roubini’s points that cryptocurrencies are not scalable, not decentralized, and not secure.

Both Mashinsky and Roubini went back in forth with rebuttals which lasted for a little over 30 minutes. Afterward, they opened up to Q&A where many of the questions were directed at Roubini as much of the audience in attendance were pro-crypto. You can watch the whole debate below.
