McDonald’s recently announced that it will release a limited edition “MacCoin” in more than 50 countries around the world to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its signature burger, the Big Mac. Each “MacCoin” will allow customers to exchange the currency for a free Big Mac.

The name “MacCoin” may make people think of cryptocurrency since it’s marketed as a food back currency, but it is actually a physical currency. MacCoin is printed and will feature 5 different designs.

McDonald’s will issue more than 6.2 million MacCoins and customers will get one MacCoin when they buy one Big Mac. Customers can go to McDonald’s to exchange one coin for a free Big Mac from August 3rd until the end of the year.
